  Landscape Cleanup

  We offer landscape cleanup services, which typically includes bush trimming, flowerbed weeding, leaf cleanup, crape myrtle pruning, ground cover pruning, ornamental grass trimming and roof gutter cleaning. The landscape cleanup service is provided by our detail crews and is separate from our lawn mowing service. Our skilled crew members will leave your landscape looking great! Includes: Labor and all the necessary equipment to complete the job quickly and in a professional manner.

  Lawn Aeration

  Lawn aeration is when holes are poked into your lawn to help your soil get more nutrients and easy access to water and air. This process creates lush lawns that are healthy, vibrant, and easier to maintain. When you take advantage of lawn aeration services with Terra Turf, we use a machine to aerate your lawn to poke ¾ inch holes about 2 inches deep. This helps the roots in your lawn to access the vital nutrients they need not just to survive, but to thrive. Terra Turf recommends aerating your lawn about 2 times every year. Keeping an eye on your soil can let you know when aeration needs to be done should your soil become compacted over time. Aerating your lawn as necessary can completely change your turf. You might think you have a pest or fertilizer problem when really soil aeration is the underlying issue. When you aerate your lawn appropriately, watering becomes easier and your lawn flourishes. When soil compacts, a healthy lawn becomes difficult to maintain. Compaction results when the 4 inches of soil closest to the surface become hard and solid, resulting in poor or ceased circulation of nutrients such as air, water, and fertilizer. As a result, your grass roots are deprived of the key ingredients they need to thrive. Aerating your soil properly solves these problems. Lawn aeration allows the soil to loosen and allows nutrients easy access to circulate around your grass roots. Compaction of soil often results from areas that receive high traffic, such as from children and pets. You can easily find out if your soil is compacted and needs aeration by doing a simple home test. Take a screwdriver out to your lawn after a watering and attempt to push the screwdriver into the soil. If the screwdriver goes into the ground with little or no resistance, then you don’t have a compaction problem. However, if you have difficulty inserting the screwdriver into the soil, this is indicative of an aeration problem. Aerating your soil as soon as possible can help get needed air and water into your soil to grow a fresh, healthy lawn. Your entire lawn may not be compacted, just high-traffic areas. If there are areas where grass is reluctant to grow, you can combine aeration and seeding at the same time to see better results.   Flowers

  SPRING FLOWERS Petunias are one of the most popular type of annual. They grow best in light, well-drained soil in full sun after the last spring frost. Petunias can grow in partial shade, but they will have fewer flowers. It’s better if the plants have shelter from the wind. Petunias are heat tolerant so don’t over water them. Watering once a week is sufficient unless drought conditions are present. Monthly fertilization is ideal to ensure good growth. Remove dead flowers to prolong blooming. Price: $35 per 18 count flat. Includes flowers, organic soil, granular fertilizer and planting. Process: Cultivate/turn soil to work in organic soil and granular fertilizer; plant flowers and water SUMMER FLOWERS Periwinkles (Vinca) should not be planted until all danger of frost has passed. Vinca require full sun and withstands drought but does best with moderate moisture. Fertilize occasionally. Price: $35 per 18 count flat. Process: Cultivate/turn soil to work in organic soil and granular fertilizer; plant flowers and water Impatiens can be planted early summer to fall. They prefer sun or partial shade. Rich organic soil with course sand for good drainage is recommend. These plants are self cleaning and need little deadheading. Price: $35 per 18 count flat. Process: Cultivate/turn soil to work in organic soil and granular fertilizer; plant flowers and water FALL / WINTER FLOWERS Pansies can be planted in spring and fall. Pansies grows best in a good garden loam, rich in organic matter and well drained. Best planted in full sun – if too much shade, flower size and numbers are reduced and plant becomes spindly. Only apply 1 inch of water each week during the growing season and do not water in late afternoons or evenings. Remove dead flowers and reapply fertilizer every 3-4 weeks for best results.   Mulch

  FLOWER BED MULCH Fine shredded hardwood mulch provides a more refined look with consistently smaller pieces. Made from hardwood with smaller particle sizes, this brown mulch interlocks with other pieces to keep your topsoil from washing away in rain or blowing away in the wind. From moderating soil temperature to retaining moisture, mulch is beneficial for the health of your plants. Adding a layer of hardwood mulch to flower beds also creates a refined appearance and can help prevent any unwanted weed growth. Organic mulches also provide additional nutrients to your plants! Terra Turf’s price for mulching is $12 per 3 cubic feet, which includes mulch and labor to spread. This includes premium grade mulch spread at a depth of approximately 2 inches.

  Grass Installation

  St Augustine grass creates a beautiful thick lawn with wide and coarse blades that are approximately 9-10mm thick. This aggressive dark green grass is perfect for areas that receive a decent amount of traffic and is resistant to wear. This grass is tolerant in the shade and recovers quickly from damage. St. Augustine grass needs about 5-6 hours of direct sunlight to achieve your perfect lawn. Terra Turf plants this in squares throughout the year. It will turn dormant and brown November through March. We remove the existing grass and weeds in your yard to create a clean working surface. We then score the soil, spread a top layer, and lay sod. We water and roll your new grass to look beautiful once it takes. Raleigh is the most common in Plano and surrounding cities. Palmetto is a more shade tolerant and drought tolerant. This crawling grass is extremely resistant to traffic and even grows well in sandy soil. This is commonly used for lawns that experience dryer seasons or tend to have sandy soil types, such as the southern United States. We plant in squares of Bermuda grass throughout the year. Bermuda grass will be dormant from approximately November through March. We’ll remove your existing layer of soil, aerate your lawn, spread a top soil layer, lay sod and then water. Call us for a free estimate for your Bermuda lawn grass! Zoysia is a gorgeous dark green lawn grass with thick, textured leaf blades that are approximately 5-7mm thick. This grass is resistant to heat, drought, and even disease. Zoysia doesn’t require as much water or fertilizer as St. Augustine, but does have comparable shade tolerance and a lusher turf. Since Zoysia is resistant to disease, you can worry less about pests such as chinch bugs, webworms, or mole crickets. Terra Turf plants this grass any time of year. Like the other grasses, it will be dormant from November through March. “Palisades” is similar to St. Augustine in the leaf blade and is also considered by some to be the most shade tolerant Zoysia. “Emerald” is a finer leaf blade more like Bermuda grass.
